Decreasing quality from Brother OEM supplies

I have owned brother printer/scanners now for the past eight years and have been generally pleased with the overall quality of the products. However, I have noticed a significant decline in quality for their toner cartridges and would have to caution against a reflex purchase of Brother OEM versus Brother compatible toners. I have now had 3 Brother OEM cartridges fail while they are still at least 50% unused. The failure occurs as leakage of excess toner powder into my printer...this is bad for the printer and the print jobs.

When I emailed Brother to complain, I found that they don't have any way to respond or to replace the defective product. Until they are willing to acknowledge the problem and replace at least part of the value of the unused cartridge, I can no longer recommend either the printers or the OEM toner cartridges.

I would be curious if anyone else has seen this recurring problem. I would also welcome a response from Brother as to how they can be more responsive to this problem.

I have the black and all four colors....only the yellow and red have leaked out on the paper....makes for poor quality printing. I don't know why because I have installed all the same according to factory instructions, but its very dissappointing for an expensive machine needing good prints. I love the machine though.

Went back to buy these original Brother cartridges... off-brand cartridges just aren't worth the trouble...

After wasting nearly 3 months with 5 off-brand recycled toner cartridges, I've decided to come back to original Brother cartridges. From a price standpoint, Amazon pretty much has the best price for these (at least this model, which is just slightly more expensive than off-brand recycled models).

Back in the days of inkjet printers, I always used cheap refillable cartridges, but with toner, at least for my printer (HL4040CDN), off-brand toners have just been headaches (2 brands the cartridges were already leaking as I took them out of their bag, 1 brand left a mess of black powder everywhere in my printer and had to have it repaired, and 2 other brands the colors were just faded).
